I went there around 10:30 AM on a weekday and there was no line at all! The lady who helped me was incredibly nice and friendly—I left with a smile on my face. The baked BBQ pork bun itself was amazingly soft, pillowy, and savory. However, the filling inside was ground/minced rather than traditional pork slivers, and it was a bit too sweet for my personal taste. The egg custard tart was a great classic treat. Highly recommend for the wonderful service, short morning wait times, and excellent bun dough!

This is a great place to grab the baked BBQ pork buns that I know of in the Bay Area. I never really knew this place was here when I lived in the Bay 12 years ago until recently when I came to visit. The baked BBQ pork buns are a bit more on the salty side but it's still good nonetheless. I still think Won Kok in L.A's Chinatown is the standard in my opinion but this place is still good nonetheless. Yes it's true the prices are high and it is cash only. But considering the area and how much their lease, utilities and supplies costs are, i think the price for their goods are understandable. Plus I'd rather spend my money towards a small mom and pop shop as well. Overall they got good baked Chinese goods and I think it's worth a try if you're in the area and craving some baked BBQ pork buns.

This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. I went on word of mouth without discovering it was cash only. After a little hunting and finding several ATMs on Google Maps missing or broken, I was able to get cash at Bank of America. I came for the Baked Pork Bun, but also tried the Egg Custard and Red Bean Paste Mochi Roll. The Pork Bun was HUGE, and the best I have ever had. The owner gave credit to the dough being mixed by hand rather than machine. One is intended to be a meal. I was worried at its size it would fall apart, but it held together. Light, fluffy, and delicious. I was a little concerned when it was taken from rhe warmer and put in a microwave for 15 seconds, but it did not negatively impact the result as far as I could tell. BEST EVER!! The mochi was more tender and soft than I have ever experienced, and in the most wonderful way. I am used to stretchy and chewy mochi. This was mlre delicate and silky. They look haphazard, but the texture and flavor completely makes up for it. The Egg Custard was much mlre like a flan in a French pastry as opposed to what I expected of a South Asian Egg Custard. I frequently visit Hong Kong Bakery and highly recommend the egg tarts, baked or steamed pork buns, steamed custard buns, sesame balls, and mango mochi. The food is consistently good, and all of the treats are larger than you would expect (a baked pork bun & egg tart is enough for me for lunch). The owner is also very sweet and friendly! It is cash only and around $4-6 per item, which seems reasonable for the portion size, quality, and location in downtown Mountain View.

Didn't know I wanted an egg custard tart until I walked by and saw this place. Good thing I did because my life changed! Amazing texture, perfect crust, so tasty! I'm a little glad I don't live close by because I'd be here all the time. Would love to try one of the other beautiful offerings. Don't forget your cash!
